59-year-old Masatoshi Hosono, living in Japan, shared the images of the moments when he tried to force his cat to swim in the bathtub on his social media account. The published images spread in a short time and drew reaction from animal rights defenders. Social media users and animal rights activists claimed that Hosono forced the cat to swim by putting its paws in water too deep to touch the ground.
The investigation initiated by the police last year, which took action on the complaints, was concluded. Crews arrested Hosono on October 20th for animal cruelty. According to the police statement, Hosono claimed that although he admitted that he tried to make his cat swim, he did not torture the animal and that he was taking care of the cat’s life safety.
No information has yet been shared about whether any legal action will be taken against Hosono.
