It was reported that at least 5 people died and many were injured as a result of an arrow attack by a person in the town of Kongsberg, Norway. On the other hand, it is feared that the death toll will increase. In the town of Kongsberg, 82 kilometers southwest of Norway’s capital Oslo, around 6.30 p.m. local time, a person attacked people with an arrow.
Police said that at least 5 people were killed and many injured in the attack. Police Spokesperson Oeyvind Aas told reporters that the attacker was caught and said, “The man was caught. According to the information we have now, this person carried out the actions alone.” It was reported that the attacker was taken to a police station in the town of Drammen.
Additional forces were sent to the town from neighboring areas, including Oslo, while parts of the town were cordoned off. The death toll is expected to rise.
POLICE INSTRUCTIONS TO ARMAMENT
Following the attacks, police officers across the country were instructed to carry weapons immediately. Police officers in Norway are normally unarmed and have access to guns and rifles when needed.
“This is an extra precaution. There is no indication that there has been a change in the level of national threat so far.” the General Directorate of Security said in a statement.
