Painful PCR tests from the nose and throat in the UK are being replaced by ‘Know Now’, the first test that can detect COVID-19 from saliva.
Since ‘harmless viral parts’ can also be caught on the radar in the current COVID-19 tests, in which a stick is inserted into the nose or throat, some people may have a positive test result even if they do not carry the virus.
“JUST LIKE TOOTH BRUSHING.”
The application of the antigen test called ‘Know Now’ is similar to brushing teeth. The test, which is likened to the surface of a human cell in order to detect the COVID-19 virus, gives more reliable results because it only catches the ‘infectious’ or ‘active’ virus.
With the supply agreement signed today between UK-based technology company Vatic Health and Abingdon Health, one of Europe’s largest coronavirus test manufacturers, it is planned to produce close to 100 million Know Now tests every year.
