In Istanbul Sarıyer, a German Turk forgot his suitcase containing ₺300 thousand and $150 thousand in the trunk of his taxi. Opening the trunk, the taxi driver noticed the suitcase full of money. When the taxi driver called the police, the suitcase containing approximately ₺1 million 800 thousand was delivered to its owner.
Realizing that he had forgotten his suitcase full of money after completing his procedures at the district governor’s office, the person applied to the police when he could not remember the plate and stop of the taxi he was getting on. Police teams searched the suitcase by wandering around the taxi stands. The taxi driver, who was unaware of the suitcase in the trunk, returned to the bus stop after his shift was over. Opening the trunk, the taxi driver noticed the suitcase full of money. When the taxi driver called the police, the suitcase containing approximately ₺1 million 800 thousand was delivered to its owner.
The incident took place in the Ferahevler District on Saturday morning. The person who came to Istanbul from Germany came to Sarıyer District Governor’s Office by taxi from Maslak to carry out title deeds. He forgot to take his suitcase the trunk of the taxi when he got on so he applied to the police. Police teams searched the suitcase by wandering around the taxi stands in the vicinity. Taxi driver Atakan Türk, who was unaware of the suitcase in his trunk, found the lost suitcase full of money while putting another passenger’s suitcase in the trunk when he arrived at the bus stop.
Acknowledging the situation, the taxi stop called the police, the owner of the money then came with the police, took his suitcase.
“THANKS TO ALL TAXI DRIVERS.”
The owner, who received the suitcase, said: “I lost my bag. Taxi drivers found it. All my items are in perfect condition. ₺300 thousand and $150 thousand are here. Thank you to all taxi drivers for doing this favor, the police found the money in a short time, I am grateful to them.”
Orhan Aydoğdu, the manager of the taxi stop said:
“I handed over the money to him then he thanked me. I don’t know what his job is. He was German. The man was quite ecstatic and lost, when he saw the money and the bag, he was quite relieved. He was surprised and asked: ‘Is there still good people like you?’. He even offered me some money, I didn’t take it, I certainly didn’t. In our taxis, such things can be forgotten usually. Everyone should be sensitive on these issues so that we can earn halal money.”
