A new service has been added to the “e-devlet system” where you can perform most of your bureaucratic applications online. Within this new service, applications for the correction of name and surname changes can also be made through e-devlet system.
The General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs of the Ministry of Interior added a new service to the ‘Receiving Applications for Name or Surname Correction with the Decision of the Provincial/District Administrative Board’ to e-devlet.
By the decision of the provincial and district administrative board, the name and surname change is now possible without a court order as a result of the amendment made in the Population Services Law provided that the person applies in writing to the population directorate where the place of residence is located within two years, name or surname of the applicant are in violation of Article 3 of the Surname Law, have spelling and spelling mistakes or have meaning changes due to the use of correction marks.
The deadline was extended for another 3 years, with the Law Amending Some Laws and Decree Law No. 375 and the temporary article added to the Population Services Law No. 5490. In addition, after the expiry of the period determined for the validity of the article, if there is a need for an extension of time again, the Presidency can extend the period without making a change in the law.
