Nusret Gökçe, the owner of world-famous restaurant chains, lost the lawsuit filed by his former employees. Nusret will pay $230 thousand (₺2 million 136 thousand) to his dismissed employees. The British newspaper, The Sun claimed that Nusret seized the employee’s tips and dismissed those who objected to this situation.
Nusret Gökçe, the famous businessman who was criticized for the high prices in his restaurant named Nusr-Et, which he opened in London, the capital of England, lost the lawsuit filed by his former employees.
EMPLOYEES RISE AGAINST THE INJUSTICE
Former employees accused Nusret Gökçe of “seizing their tips” and when they objected to this situation, they were fired.
The newspaper stated that Nusret deprived his former employees of the tips they earned, and that they were fired as a result of complaining about this situation. Allegedly, Nusret did not disclose the amount of tips collected to his employees, he also get these tips himself. Nusret was sued by four former employees of his restaurant in Manhattan in 2019.
One of the dismissed staff members said:
“Customers believed that the entire tip was sent to the waiters and other serving staff. However, we did not receive this money.”
